A Collaborative Initiative by Keep Durant Beautiful & Durant Main Street

We are excited to announce an open call for artists to participate in our Paint the Town Dumpster Art Project! This initiative aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Durant community by transforming dumpsters into vibrant works of art.

About the Project Keep Durant Beautiful and Durant Main Street are joining forces to encourage creativity and pride in our community. This project invites artists to submit their applications to paint dumpsters in the City of Durant. By beautifying these everyday objects, we hope to inspire residents and visitors alike.

Application Details

• Eligibility: Open call to artists 16 years and older

• Reimbursement: Artists selected for the project will receive up to $250 for materials used in their dumpster art.

• Submission Guidelines: Artists interested in participating should adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Family-Friendly Contest: All submissions must be suitable for all audiences. Artwork should be positive, inclusive, and free of controversial themes.

  2. Incorporate Location: Each design must incorporate the name Durant, Oklahoma along with reference to the specific district where the dumpster is located.

  3. Submission Deadline: Application must be submitted no later than July 31.

  4. Artists Notification: Artists will be notified of their acceptance and the location their assigned dumpster no later than August 8.

  5. Completion Timeline: Selected artists will be required to complete their artwork by October 4, in time for the reveal during the Art and Wine Festival.
